Scuba instructors are required to conduct couses at maximum ratios, meaning how many students can 1 instructor teach and guide in the open ocean at one time:

8 students to 1 instructor

OR

12 students to 1 instructor if they are assisted by a divemaster.

Please don't forget, an instructor was once a divemaster before receiving more training.

There will be 11 other students in your class. We need that many to make up for the cheap course price we offered you. Unfortunately our instructors require wages too.

That means you must sit patiently while each student does the required skills one at a time for the instructor. Hopefully you won't be in a class where someone has trouble mastering the skills. Could lead to a long boring dive without any personalized time.

Or worse, you are the one that feels you need more time to get comfortable but your instructor might not have the time for you since he has such a large group to attend to.

Maximum 4:1 ratios with your instructor.

Great news, the skill circuit didn't last long since there was only 4 of you so you get to spend the rest of your tank time exploring!

Final Course Price:
$490
$475

We do not offer the least expensive Open Water Course on Oahu, nor is it our intention to do so.

We are not willing to cut corners on our boat, staffing, safety and dive experience to our customers which is the end result of reduced pricing. We provide you with quality instruction and ensure when you are finished, not only did you pass the course, but that you will be a self-assured diver.
