Comments: AAA Diving was a bit of a disappointemtn. Starting with the pick up in Waikiki. The driver seemed a bit stressed, occasionally talking on her phone and making erratic turns and stops. Once on the boat, he ( ALex the owner) wouldn't even take us to the yo-275 shipwreck due to , well he said fuel. Instead we did the tiger something which was ok. I didn't like the tip jar either, a bit tacky. I went with Rainbow DIving the next day, he had a better boat and his price was 70 bucks ! That's US. Sorry Alex, but I am a customer and this is my view. !!

AAA Diving: Alex's response to the points brought up in this entry:
  1. Anytime there is a problem with my staff, I would like to hear about it. Personally would have been nice, but ok, via guestbook entry in this case. Now that I am aware of a problem, I have the opportunity to address it
  2. Licensed and insured instructors do not make very much money leading divers on their dive tours. I wish that as an operator, I could pay them more. Quite often times in the Caribbean for example, Divemasters live solely on tips. The tip box is out for divers who wish to show their appreciation for the work it takes these guides to keep you safe during your dive, and make your dive experience as pleasurable as possible both on the surface and during your dive. If you think this isn't hard work, tell a divemaster what an easy job they have and see what kind of response you get!
  3. The day that you claim I did not go to the YO because of fuel is inaccurate to be blunt. I was headed out there when I received a phone call from another dive captain. He informed me of the screaming current which was prevalent at the time. This wreck is infamous for the strong currents. So we opted for the Sea Tiger that morning as it is protected more then the YO and offered better dive conditions. I am the ONLY operator who is willing to go in both directions of the harbor - meaning we travel to the Waikiki dive sites, as well as sites in front of Pearl Harbor. The reason for this is other operators don't wish to spend the fuel. I am the only one willing to do so, despite the fuel costs.
  4. Rainbow Divers... yes indeed.. you did get a cheaper rate didn't you. Rainbow Divers does NOT own the boat that you were on. So, you were on the boat with lots of other operators. The captain was on a tight schedule, and you were back at the harbor at 10:30.. no exceptions. Your boat was most likely crowded. We do not profess to be the cheapest on the island, nor do we wish to provide the type of service that they provide. How you can say that boat is a better boat is highly questionable. It is a sailing catamaran converted to a dive boat. BUT you wanted the cheapest rate...as you say.. thats US!

Comments: Great trip, great dives, great crew! What more can you say! And with only 4 divers on the boat, it was a very intimate experience. Of course, snacks were limited in selection but abundant in quantity (hey, if you’re looking for a buffet head to Vegas). And the loquacious boat captain and owner (let’s call him Alex) was an extremely entertaining character yet confident, competent and interested in everyone’s well being (I tried several times to inspect the hull of the boat with my skull but he would have none of that…spoiled sport!). And last but not least our dive master did a great job leading and pointing out all of the wildlife. Thanks guys…I had a great time!

Comments: Alex Thanks for a great time diving and enjoying the water off Honolulu. My wife and son are still gushing about what they saw and were able to accomplish. We look forward to next time.

Comments: Hey Alex another great 2 weeks of diving. I don't know that it can get any better diving with you and your crew. The water was so blue and clear. The dive time is always the best on the island, never rushed or pushed to make the turn to go out with another group of divers. Thanks so much. I will be back in August to do this again. Dave

Comments: I want to thank the crew so much for such a wonderful experience! Having never dived before in my life, the crew was very understanding and helpful. (They also provide Sudafed for those unfortunately suffering from head colds!) I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a great experience, high sense of quality, and an awesome crew!
