Specialty Diver Ratings

Undoubtedly, your diving interests will lead you to want to learn more about particular skills or particular kinds of dives. We offer courses for earning the following Specialty Diver Ratings:

The prerequisites, number of dives, and study materials vary according to the specialty. Please contact us for detailed information on obtaining any of these ratings.

Master Scuba Diver Certification

This is the highest certification level for non-professional divers. The Master Scuba Diver rating denotes great achievement in dive skill proficiency and diving experience. This certification is available to divers who have earned 5 Specialty ratings and successfully completed Rescue Diver training.

Divermaster Certification Course

This professional certification course is open to adults with Rescue Diver certification and at least 20 logged open water dives. Cost: $250 plus boat dives (10 minimum @ $40 per dive) & tax.

A Divemaster candidate must have 20 logged dives before the start of this course. Prior to certification, the candidate must have 60 logged dives. During the course the candidate will complete a minimum of 10 dives which can be credited. If more dives are required to meet the 60 logged dive requirements, the candidate can do additional boat dives at a rate of $40 per dive until requirement is met or if candidate feels more instruction/diving would benefit in the overall training.

Because this course prepares students to work as a dive professionals, it is required that students have their own gear. Our instructors will be happy to advise you on gear selection.

Unpaid internships may be available to qualified students once they've completed the dive master course.

Assistant Instructor Course

This program is open to Divemasters and those who have certified to leadership ratings with other recognized diver training organizations. The course provides the needed qualifications to participate in training courses as instructional assistants and dive educators. Additionally, those wishing to become Open Water Instructors may apply their Assistant Instructor training toward the completion of the Instructor Development Course.
